About Summit Up

My relationship with the Himalayas spans nearly two decades of road trips, hikes, and high-altitude treks.

It began in the bone-chilling cold of January 2008—a 2nd-class train journey from Bangalore to Gorakhpur with a couple of friends, all of us completely unprepared for the cold, crossing into Nepal via the Sonauli border. Seeing those Himalayan peaks for the first time changed everything. After a trip to Sikkim the next year and a brief pause to build my career, a 2012 trip to Ladakh reignited the fire.

Since then, the Himalayas have been an annual fixture: Spiti (2013), the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Lipulekh (2014), Zanskar Valley (2015), Bhutan (2016), and most recently, Adi Kailash and the Darma Valley in May 2026. In between came trips and treks across Garhwal, Himachal Pradesh, and Sikkim—wherever the Himalayas called me.

I used to write actively on travel forums before life took over—getting married, welcoming a child, and seeing the internet shift toward short-form video. Though I often thought about returning to serious writing, the idea stayed on the back burner.

Well, here I am.

Summit Up (sum-it-up) is my return to long-form storytelling. This space is built for those who still love to read, immerse themselves in details, and savor the journey. You won't find quick 15-second summaries here. Instead, you'll find comprehensive accounts of each journey—how it began, the planning, the routes, the field notes, and photographs capturing the timeless beauty of these mountains.
